Parenting Coordination
Parenting Coordination is a child-focused dispute resolution process in which an impartial third party, known as the Parenting Coordinator (PC), works with parents to assist in the implementation and interpretation of their parenting plan. The Parenting Coordinator’s goal is to help reduce conflict, improve communication, and support cooperative co-parenting for the benefit of the child.

Parenting Coordination is a court-ordered alternative dispute resolution process. The Parenting Coordinator may make recommendations to the parents and, with prior approval from both the court and the parties, may make limited decisions within the scope of the court’s order of appointment and the existing parenting plan.

It is important to note that a Parenting Coordinator cannot make or enforce changes to the parenting plan itself without the mutual consent of both parents.

This process is governed by Chapter 61.125, Florida Statutes.
